Assessment for Course Placement

Congratulations on submitting your application! Your next step is to complete course placement. Assessing your reading, writing, and math skills is part of the application and class registration processes at Ivy Tech. This helps us understand your college readiness and helps us make sure the classes you take are the right fit for you.

We can measure where your skills are currently in several different ways, including through ACT, SAT, or PSAT scores, high school GPA, previous college credit you've earned, or taking an assessment test via our Knowledge Assessment tool in MyIvy (your student portal).

Unofficial High School Transcript

Students who have graduated high school in the last 4 years OR current high school seniors or juniors who have completed 4 high school semesters can submit high school transcripts with a GPA of 2.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale for course placement. Transcripts do NOT need to be official for course placement.

Unofficial College Transcript

Students who have earned college credits in English or Math with a grade of C- or higher OR have been awarded an associate degree or higher at another college or university can submit college transcripts for course placement. Transcripts do NOT need to be official for course placement.

Unofficial Test Scores

Students who have completed ACT, SAT, or PSAT within the last 4 years can submit test scores for course placement requirements. View Test Score Course Placement Chart.
